The CRAFTS lab often has open positions for students and other trainees. Some example positions are described here.

A Thesis Student undertakes an independent research project as part of their undergraduate or graduate degree requirements, with mentorship provided by Dr. Moorthy. This research project involves reviewing literature, identifying interesting questions/problems, designing and conducting experiments, and interpreting results. Thesis students are expected to produce a degree-appropriate thesis (BSc, MSc, PhD). Graduate thesis students will also work as research assistants (see below) and will be remunerated for these efforts.

A Research Assistant (RA) supports ongoing research projects in the CRAFTS lab, usually as part of an industry or government contract. Example work may include identifying and critically evaluating scientific literature, evaluating/documenting code and generating numerical results. RA work is directed by Dr. Moorthy and/or Research Associates (see below) and/or Postdoctoral Fellows (see below), and often have time-sensitive deliverables. We have both part-time and full-time (paid) RA positions, and consider both undergraduate and graduate students for these roles.

Similarly to an RA, a Research Associate supports ongoing research work in the CRAFTS lab. However, Research Associates are expected to lead research projects and participate in lab administrative activities (e.g., interviewing, hiring, grant-writing). A Research Associate should NOT be a registered student, and will likely have a Master’s degree, post-graduate certificate, professional designation or other indicator of significant professional experience. We have both part-time and full-time (paid) Research Associate positions.

A Postdoctoral Fellow (PDF) has completed a doctorate degree and is conducting independent research under the mentorship of Dr. Moorthy. A PDF has significant flexibility and creative license in their scholarly pursuits. However, they are still expected to participate in some lab administrative activities (e.g., interviewing, hiring, grant-writing) and in the mentorship of thesis students and RAs. PDFs will also have the opportunity to apply for additional research funding with the support of Dr. Moorthy.

If you are interested in any of the above described positions, please register your interest with Dr. Moorthy through this google form. You will be contacted for additional information if an appropriate opportunity becomes available.
